About Me

Teresa Dawkes
BSc(Hons) Acupuncture, MBAcC, DCR, PgCert.

I am a qualified acupuncturist, with a BSc in Acupuncture from the Northern College of Acupuncture in York. I have worked in the NHS as a radiographer for 35 years, with the majority of that time working as part of the team in the Breast Unit at a local hospital. Over these years I have come to appreciate the holistic nature of health and the interconnection of the physical and emotional balance needed to maintain a healthy life. I was drawn to studying acupuncture and Chinese Medicine as these values are at the core of this ancient medicine. I am also trained and registered with National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) to deliver ear acupuncture to help with many conditions , including smoking cessation.

I was born and brought up in Whitchurch and returned 20+ years ago to raise my family here. Outside of work I enjoy walking my mad cocker spaniel Stanley, cooking, reading, and volunteering for local and overseas charities.

I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC),which is the leading organisation within the UK and recognised by the NHS. The BAcC ensure that all their members are educated to degree standard from accredited institutions and ensure high professional standards from their members. At the moment acupuncture is an unregistered profession and the BAcC are working with the government for it to become a protected title such as physiotherapist, radiographer, doctor etc.
